Spain Made for You by Ria Poulsen

How I fell in love with Spain
¡Hola! I am Ria Poulsen. At the end of my studies Mediterranean Studies I lived in Granada for a while, during which I completely fell in love with the country and its people. When returning to the Netherlands I had one big wish: to return to and live in Spain! After graduating I started to travel the world with my husband and later on with our children. Eight years later we finally moved to Spain with the whole family, which was like a dream come true for me. Although we wanted to live in Spain during our daughters’ entire primary school period, we unfortunately had to leave Spain after almost four years. However, Spain has captured our hearts and has become our third home. I still come back to Spain several times a year (through work, with my family or with friends) and every time I discover new amazing places.

Sharing my passion for Spain
To share my passion for Spain, I started the company Spain made for You. Through the travel blog www.spainmadeforyou.nl I inspire people to discover and experience the real Spain, since Spain has much more to offer than sun and beaches only. I write about medieval villages, amazing nature, small & special hotels, cultural events & festivities, restaurants with great authentic food and so on.

My visit to Barcelona
On one of my trips to Spain I visited Barcelona together with a friend, during which we stayed in Casa Maca, one of the Guesthouses of Guesthouse Barcelona. The location was great, the room was beautiful and clean and the service was perfect. Even though we stayed for 3 days, we didn´t even see half of the treasures that Barcelona has to offer. What a fantastic city! The facts that we happened to be in Barcelona during the Fiestas de Santa Eulalia, -the patron of Barcelona-, even gave our stay an extra dimension.

The start of “Carla´s discoveries in Barcelona”
The city trip to Barcelona revived my interest in the city of Gaudí. It´s filled with history, culture and art and has delicious gastronomy to offer! Carla (co-owner of Guesthouse Barcelona) told us that her husband and she stroll through the beautiful Catalan capital in their free time, during which they have discovered a lot of beautiful places. I wanted to know more about their discoveries and decided to write about them in “Carla´s ontdekkingen in Barcelona”, which means “Carla´s discoveries in Barcelona”.

Como me enamoré de España
Hola! Soy Ria Poulsen.

Mi visita a Barcelona
